Friday Investment Talk: Glasgow Goes Green, China’s Value and Small Caps Breakout

COP26 hits Glasgow ushering in a chance for governments to change corporate rules on environmental policies. Accounting standards are one area of focus. Main issues include reducing emissions (adoption of EVs and reduction of coal industries), deforestation, diet change, and new tech for emerging markets.

Clean Energy Tech ETF (ICLN) looks interesting as US small caps (IWM) break out of an 8-month consolidation pattern. Chinese stocks are also set up for a technical challenge of their long term support level on a value basis vs the US stock market.

The small cap breakout looks tenuous now, but should strengthen. Chip stocks, Amazon (AMZN), and Lucid (LCID) run up on the Rivian (RIVN) IPO slated for Tuesday. Boeing (BA), Airbnb (ABNB), and Uber (UBER) rise on US travel opening. Yandex (YNDX) took off after earnings also.
Industrial company stocks look ready to rebound and participate after an early November sell off, along with solar stocks (TAN). Coal and gas companies look toppy.
