Friday Investment Talk: Christmas Gifts, ETF Inflows, Housing, and US Population

Ray Dalio suggests gifting gold coins for Christmas, while investors set records for ETF inflows in 2021. ESG ETFs grew while IPO ETFs underperform.

Markets sold off in December providing a bullish setup in two pet supply companies as put/call ratios roll over to buy signals for the S&P 500 index. Beware of mid-term US election years, however, as lows are usually made in Q2-Q3 period.

A lack of inventory in US housing has caused a huge increase in home prices. Demand is also increasing further exacerbating price increases allowing the balance sheets of homebuilders to strengthen.

Labor shortages are the key issue. The US workforce is shrinking along with the US population overall. This will put pressure on the US economy going forward.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
